Today I will like to review a cool start-up datarpm.com with a not so cool name. Anyway, I understand getting good domain names is near impossible these days at least for a start up. The reason I like this start-up is because I worked on a start-up that did pretty much the same thing a couple of years ago. The idea for both start-ups is same -- A simple Google (or for that matter any web search site) style interface that answers users questions by presenting visualization of data that matches the user question. This method of data interrogation will make the life of a business user much easier as more and more of us are getting used to the search engine style user interfaces. I wish the founders of this website had a trial signup for folks to try but I did not see any option to do so. I strongly encourage the founders to do so.
The biggest problem with this approach is that the business user must trust their company confidential business critical data to an outside vendor (which is not named Salesforce). It is an attempt at humor in case you were wondering. Anyway, as more and more people get used to the concept of having data in cloud and letting other cloud based companies "share" data that is already in the cloud the barriers to sharing data will eventually disappear.
Congratulations to the founders for raising $250K seed funding.
Disclaimer: I am not part of, work for or have any stake in this start-up.
